Racing 101 — Learn to Race with LCYC
There's nothing quite like the thrill of a close start — and this is your chance to experience it! Racing 101 is a complete two-session program designed to demystify racing, connect you with our fantastic racing community, and get you on the water with confidence. Both sessions are included and attendance at Session 1 is required to participate in Session 2. No prior racing experience required — all skill levels and ages welcome.

Join some of LCYC's most experienced sailors for an engaging, fun introduction to racing. We'll cover race courses, the start sequence, key racing rules, crew roles, and how to get matched with a boat — all explained through real scenarios, not rulebook recitations. Come ready to ask questions, meet fellow sailors, and get excited about the season ahead. Completing Session 1 unlocks your spot for the on-the-water experience in June!

Spring Cleanup — Same Day! Saturday, April 18 · 10:30 AM · LCYC Clubhouse
Come early and help get the club shipshape for the season! Lunch will be served and members who attend both the Spring Cleanup and Session 1 will receive priority boat placement for the June on-the-water session. A great way to meet fellow members and make a day of it.

Session 2: On the Water — TerBeest Pursuit Club Race Saturday, June 6 · Lake City Marina
Time to put it all together! Having completed Session 1, you'll join us aboard LCYC keelboats for the TerBeest Pursuit, our second club race of the year. You'll get dockside coaching, real race experience alongside seasoned club sailors, and a debrief to close out the day. This is racing — and it is a blast. See the full racing calendar for details.
